Surface Powered DWCM are connected to the Hydraulic Power Unit using an umbilical cord in the range of 40 to 200 metres long. This then connects on the surface to control pane; where the operator controls the wire speed, Working pressure and flow rate for optimum cutting efficiency.
As this is operated remotely, if in the unlikely event that anything happens to go wrong then the operator is at a safe distance. The DWCM is connected to the structure to be cut by a diver who can also allow monitoring the cut by means of a hand held TV camera.
