Castellated & Step Cut

The castellated and step cuts are specific engineered solutions requested by the decommissioning industry to help maintain integrity of the jacket following completion of the cut.

The patented (patent app.no. 10 739 622.8) operation of castellated / step cuts help to maintain the stability of a jacket / platform during cutting and removal operations, effectively locking the jacket or platform in position after the cutting operation. This gives increased operational safety and allows the jacket / platform to be left in-situ until lifting operations can be scheduled.

CUT Group has three specialist tools which can perform the castellated and step cuts – the Modular 60” – 120” DWCM, developed for the BP North West Hutton Decommissioning Project and the 240” DWCM which was developed for the Murchison Decommissioning Project, and has since been extended to cut up to 288" OD.

The latest addition is the 40" to 72" DWCM which is a low profile DWCM designed for fitting between the mudmat and lower brace of many platforms due for decommissioning. Its a versatile size of DWCM and a great addition to the fleet.
